The CPA
Dustin Wielenga has worked with clients on cross-border tax complexities since graduating from Western Washington University. He began his career with a large regional firm in 2013 and moved to a small local firm in 2016, before launching Blue Giraffe CPA in 2025.
He enjoys working with clients to meet their lifestyle and financial goals, while keeping their tax complexities to a minimum. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, photography, reading, and running.
The Name
As I considered what to name this firm, the idea of naming it after a roaming animal came to mind. It would be reflective of the international focus of the practice, where many of my clients have moved from one country to another.
As I considered various animals, I recalled the blanket of my son Arlo. It had a giraffe pattern. Arlo passed away unexpectedly in his sleep just shy of three months old. The giraffe became the obvious choice, in remembrance and honor of our dear Arlo.
Perhaps the trend of adjective + animal is overworn. But I have fond memories of getting a milkshake from the Purple Cow with my cousins, enjoying dinner at the Copper Hog with friends, and experiencing perhaps my favorite meal at the Blue Hound in Phoenix.
And so Blue Giraffe CPA was launched.
